Agreeing to these terms

These terms cover gardenhero.co, the Rooted blog at rooted.gardenhero.co, and the Rooted newsletter (together, the "services"), run by [Legal entity name] ("Garden Hero," "we," "us") in Denver, Colorado. You must be at least 13 to use the services, and the newsletter is written for adults.

What the services are

Rooted is a free newsletter and blog about home gardening, sent three mornings a week, plus occasional Garden Hero news. After you sign up we show you a free fall and winter garden calendar, which you may print and use for your own garden. It is for personal, non-commercial use. We may change, pause, or end any part of the services at any time.

Gardening information, not professional advice

Rooted is general gardening information. We draw on university extension offices and other published sources and cite them, but conditions vary by zone, soil, weather, and local rules, and we can be wrong. Nothing we publish is professional, legal, medical, or food-safety advice. Check your local extension office before you act, especially on pest control, pesticides, canning and preserving, and plants you plan to eat. You use the information at your own risk.

We cite extension offices, pantries, gardens, and other organizations as sources. Citing them does not mean they endorse, sponsor, or partner with Garden Hero.

Newsletter and email

When you subscribe you agree to receive Rooted and occasional Garden Hero news by email. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any email. You are responsible for giving us an address that is yours.

Your submissions

If you email us to nominate a garden or suggest a partner, we may contact you about it. By sending one you confirm the information is accurate and that you have the right to share it. We will not publish a private person's name or story without asking first. Do not send us anything unlawful or anything you do not have the right to send.

Our content and photos

The Rooted text, design, and Garden Hero name and logo belong to [Legal entity name] or its licensors. You may read, share links to, and quote short excerpts with credit, but you may not copy the services wholesale or use our name and logo to suggest we endorse you. Many photos come from public-domain and Creative Commons sources and keep their own licenses; see Photo credits.

Links to other sites

The services link to sites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices, and a link is not an endorsement.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the services: no attempts to break or overload them, scrape them in bulk, bypass the signup form's bot protection, or submit other people's email addresses without their permission.
